Oh, Merlin! I do not know if I want to come home! I am told that the snow is not falling anymore in England, but I must confess that I am already used to the beautiful days here. So lovely and warm! I am not so good with photography so I have not taken any pictures, but I promise that it is pretty. Today I went north a little to the home of a family friend and reacquainted myself with their horses and their hospitality. Their daughter Monique was there and we had fun sampling her parents' wine and giggling like schoolgirls. It was such fun.

I have to say, though, that I have missed Bill and Fleur and the children. Maman is thinking that she might perhaps visit. Oh, Merlin! I can't say that as it is a surprise for Fleur. But I will be home soon enough! Tomorrow morning, bright and early!

I had a man propose to me fifteen times today.

Oh, Merlin! One of the maids let me milk her cow! It was so much fun! Although, I did have to go home afterwards and change robes because it did get a little messy. But it was fun!

I was not expecting to have dinner with him. I am glad he asked, though, because it was very nice. It seems strange to admit it, though, that I had nearly forgotten the sort of effect that I can have on men. I'm not sure if I like that it is so. It made things awkward at times, I think.

This wasn't supposed to be a date, not matter what Janet says. But I don't know now, since there was dinner.

Fleur, I have a question. You remember that I told you that I was meeting that boy man that I was speaking with over these journals? Ernie? And that it was not a date?

In the middle of it he asked me to dinner and now I'm not sure if it was or not. And I felt awkward because it was obvious that he wasn't exactly himself and I don't know how much of his asking me to dinner was me and how much of it was because of the Veela. And dinner was very nice! And he was good. I just... wonder, you know?

Oh, Merlin! I was nearly knocked over by one of those leaping men today. They sounded German.

Lisa's post has found me thinking today, all day at work. Mostly I was thinking about Christmas music and the kind I like best. No, not kind. That is the wrong word. I meant the song I like best. To play I like Silent Night. It lends itself very well to my violin. But to sing... I don't really know! I'm still thinking about it. What Christmas songs do you like best?

8th Dec, 2008

Oh, Merlin! I love Christmas-time. The only people that I am missing at this time of year are Mama and Papa, but I will see them soon enough. As it is, it feels like every day is so busy with cooking and decorating, and we've only really started decorating. The house next door - which is Lisa and Seamus, you know - has this really beautiful window up high and I like to imagine that if Father Christmas didn't come down chimneys, he'd come through a window like that.

I still need to finish some Christmas shopping, though. There are a few odds and ends that I need to find, plus I need to find some pretty gift-wrap. I always found that in Paris, but I think that this year I will avoid the shops and the crowds there. Not that it isn't crowded here in London, but it's a different sort of crowded. The Parisian crowd is very serious about their shopping and frown a great deal more.
